Nicole Schwartz, BS, IBCLC

Certified Atlanta Lactation Consultant

Hello! Have you been searching the Internet for a “lactation consultant near me?” If you need a lactation expert in the Atlanta, GA area, you’ve come to the right place.

I am a licensed International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and hold an undergraduate degree in Biology. I also am a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (I can help with car seats!). I have always had an interest in the human body and how it works and from a young age always envisioned myself working with children.

I have advanced training in oral function, habilitation, and tongue tie through IPN’s IBCLC Master Class. I am a current member of the United States Lactation Consultant Association, the Institute for the Advancement of Breastfeeding & Lactation Education, and the Georgia Birth Network.

In 2012 I gave birth to my daughter and my goal had been to breastfeed for one year because I knew of the health benefits for her and myself. I had been working in healthcare administration since I began my career but little did I know that having my daughter would change the trajectory of my life in more ways than one. I struggled to breastfeed her but with the help of several amazing IBCLC’s I persevered and got the help and support I needed to continue a long and beautiful breastfeeding journey.

Helping parents, babies, and families during one of the most beautiful, exhausting, and transformational times of their lives is a true honor and calling. I am here as a breastfeeding expert - but also as a trusted resource and friend - to help families reach their breastfeeding goals by providing advanced lactation care with compassion.

Jacqueline “Shea” Collier, BSN, RN, IBCLC

Certified Atlanta Lactation Consultant

Hi! I’m Shea, a registered nurse and IBCLC. I spent a few years working in the Pediatric ICU at my local children’s hospital until the birth of our first daughter.  I felt I was well prepared to have a baby and know what to do…after all, I worked with kids and babies every day!

Unfortunately, that would not be the case. Once she was born, I left the hospital with cracked and bleeding nipples despite seeing the lactation consultants in the hospital for 4 days (I hemorrhaged after birth so I stayed a little extra time to recover…another story for another day).

I called our doula, crying, explaining to her that this was not working (referring to breastfeeding) and she referred us to the sweetest IBCLC, who came to our house and helped get us on the right track.

This is where my lactation consultant journey began!  Over the months, as things improved and I began to love breastfeeding and each part of the journey, I knew one day I would become an IBCLC.

A couple of years later, I sought out prenatal lactation support with the same inspirational IBCLC for the birth of our second daughter.  Fortunately, I was able to breastfeed our first daughter until she was 2 years old and our second daughter until she was 2.5 years old.

In 2021, I began pursuing lactation professionally as a CLC (certified lactation counselor) and immediately jumped into my IBCLC clinical hours.  The knowledge and support I have received over the last 2 years from my mentors has helped shape the lactation consultant I am today!

I am thankful for the opportunity to help serve postpartum moms in our community with breastfeeding support, just as I received several years ago. I look forward to working with you soon!
